World Vision Internships provide a three-month opportunity for exceptional students and recent graduates ready to explore a career in the international relief and development sector. BEFORE APPLYING, make sure you meet the following requirements:
- Able to commit to a minimum of 24 hours per week for the entire internship period: 20 May – 16 August.
- Eligible to work in the United States.
- Must have a valid US Social Security Number.
- Be physically located in one of the following states where WVI is registered as an employer: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia (Washington D.C.), Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Washington.
- Current student or recent graduate from an undergraduate or graduate programme (within 2 years).
- Adhere to World Vision International’s Christian Statement of Faith.
- Willingness to use own electronic devices for internship purposes, and disposition to let WVI install endpoint security software on those devices.
DETAILS
- Stipend: All US-based interns are paid a monthly stipend of $800
- Hours: Full-time and part-time opportunities are available (24-40 hours/week)
- Internship Location: Remote within the US (see eligible states above).
- Appropriate Fields of Study/Majors: Communications, Marketing, Public Engagement, Global Health, Nutrition, or related fields.
INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION
Good health and nutrition empower children. Our work promotes positive child development and well-being, prevents child death, reduces illness, and improves nutrition. We support over 184,000 Community Health Workers in 46 countries, providing timely counselling on healthy behaviours and building bridges to improved health and nutrition services. Our integrated approach enables caregivers, service providers, and over 300,000 faith leaders, to protect, advocate for, and improve the health and nutrition of children where we work.
The Opportunity:
As a Global Health and Nutrition Knowledge Management and Communications Intern, you will have the opportunity to:
- Assist our Team in creating content and updating our external-facing website and internal intranet, which are both utilized to build thought leadership and communicate program impact on health and nutrition.
- Support our efforts to produce social media content for global days such as International Women’s Day, World Tuberculosis Day, World Health-Worker Week, World Health Day, World Immunization Week, World Malaria Day, and World Breastfeeding Week to showcase the work that World Vision is doing in these areas.
- Learn about World Vision's child-focused health and nutrition work and develop your communication, content creation, editing, and story-telling skills for web and social media platforms.
- Have access to weekly professional development programming delivered by WV People and Culture, as well as regular interaction with WV’s health and nutrition experts.
- Make a lasting impact on the lives of the most vulnerable children.
The intern’s responsibilities will include:
- Develop and update website content on prioritized program areas on World Vision's external facing website (wvi.org) to grow WVI’s online presence and build our technical brand
- Create content on World Vision's SharePoint intranet platform following a recent platform migration.
- Produce social media content for Global Days related to health and nutrition to communicate program results and build awareness of WV's program portfolio.
- Potential work on conference/external engagement side events or sessions.
Essential qualities for this role:
- You have experience in producing high-quality communications/marketing content and delivering it to a range of audiences.
- You are experienced in developing web and social media content.
- You have English writing and editing experience. Other language proficiency, in particular French and Spanish, would be preferred.
- You can take complex ideas and communicate them in clear and efficient ways.
- You can work independently and you feel comfortable working as part of a virtual team.
- You are passionate about using your God-given talents to positively impact the world.
