Who we are looking for:
ASCO’s Center for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (CEDI) is looking for a
passionate and enthusiastic Health Equity Intern to provide programmatic and
administrative support for the department.
The goal of this internship is to gain knowledge and skills that will better
prepare our intern to become effective champions of health equity in their own
careers.Internship activities include:
* Develop solutions that will integrate into the larger portfolio of DEI
concepts and strategies
* Participate in calls/meetings with ASCO staff and external stakeholders
* Provide digital support for broader CEDI work
* Utilize data tools to analyze emerging trends in DEI work or work related to
special populations
* Integrate DEI concepts and strategies into key project deliverables
* Write summaries/synopsis of research findings
* Research emerging trends in cancer equity issues, education, and quality of
care
Required qualifications:
* Currently enrolled in an undergraduate BA/BS degree program, or graduate
program, or recently graduated from a 4-year degree program, Public Health,
clinical-, or policy-focused studies, plus first or second-hand experience
dealing with a health equity issue. Candidates must be at least a junior or
entering their junior year of college at the start of the internship.
* Strong research skills
* Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite (365 preferred)
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work along
lines of difference
* Professionalism
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, both independently and with
expressed value for collaboration, and flexibility to adapt to changing
needs
* Solid organizational and time management skills and impeccable attention to
detail
* Excellent customer service skills and professionalism
* Willingness to enhance skills
Duration: 10 weeks during the summer – June 10, 2024, to August 16, 2024. This
internship is 37.5 hours per week.
Compensation: This summer internship position is paid. Additionally, ASCO will
provide parking or a metro subsidy to the successful candidate.
Location: This internship is based in Alexandria, VA and will require working
onsite. Candidates should reside in the D.C. metro area or be able to relocate
at their own expense. If you are not able to work at ASCO Headquarters, please
