Who we are looking for: ASCO’s Human Resources Department is looking for a highly-organized Human Resources Intern to support day-to-day administrative tasks and activities in various functional areas of ASCO’s HR department. The Human Resources Intern will gain and build real-world experience with recruiting, learning and development, HRIS, benefits and operations, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) programs, and other HR projects and research area.Internship activities include:  Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion  * Support EDI programs and projects outlined in the organization and department’s EDI strategic plans  Learning and Development  * Participate in a variety of development sessions  * Assist with resource development for HR Learning & Performance Programs  * Support, develop & revise annual L&D/HR communication content  Onboarding  * Assist with maintenance of onboarding materials and templates in Workday  * Assist with projects, as needed, including conducting research and compiling data  Talent Acquisition  * Support the Talent Acquisition team in re-engineering the career site  * Help to implement social media strategies for recruitment  * Establish an intern alumni group fostering a strong sense of community and connection  Benefits, Operations & HRIS  * Collaborate with team members to analyze and document current business processes, identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement  * Create process flowcharts and diagrams to visualize current and future processes  * Participate in ongoing efforts to refine improved processes  Facilities  * Support ASCO facilities operations projects as requested    Required qualifications:  * Currently enrolled in an undergraduate BA/BS degree program, or graduate program, or recently graduated from a 4-year degree program, preferably in Human Resources Management or Business. Candidates must be at least a junior or entering their junior year of college at the start of the internship.  * Experience in an office environment  * Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (365 preferred) and web-cloud-based platforms and applications  * Ability to conduct research and effectively analyze, compile, and present results  * Strong customer service skills and professionalism  * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills  * Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment  * Solid organizational skills and impeccable attention to detail  * Ability to prioritize and adapt  * Willingness to enhance skills     Duration: 10 weeks during the summer – June 10, 2024, to August 16, 2024. This internship is 37.5 hours per week.    Compensation: This summer internship position is paid. Additionally, ASCO will provide parking or a metro subsidy to the successful candidate.    Location: This internship is based in Alexandria, VA and will require working onsite. Candidates should reside in the D.C. metro area or be able to relocate at their own expense.
