The National Alcohol Beverage Control Association (NABCA) is a non-profit trade association located in Arlington, Virginia. Founded in 1938, NABCA represents the jurisdictions that directly control the distribution and sale of beverage alcohol within their borders. NABCA's mission is to support and benefit alcohol control systems by providing research, fostering relationships, and managing resources to address policy for the responsible sale and consumption of beverage alcohol.


NABCA has an immediate opening for a Human Resources (HR) Intern. The HR Intern is responsible for assisting the team with administrative tasks, internet research, engagement, and wellness activities, etc. The HR Intern will provide general support to the Human Resources team.


NABCA is a Great Place To Work CertifiedTM organization. NABCA offers a hybrid work schedule (with free parking) in a beautiful office building conveniently located in the Shirlington area, one block from popular shops and restaurants. This individual hired to fill the temporary intern position is expected to work 10-15 hours per week from February-May. Temporary intern positions are not eligible for employee benefits.


Job Duties


The HR Intern will perform the following Duties:


  • Provide support for recruitment activities; assist with job postings, etc.
  • Organize and compile materials for new employee orientation materials.
  • Upload documents to online benefit portal; compile and update training materials.
  • Assisting with HR records, personnel files, etc.
  • Assist with updating HR event calendars, schedules, etc.
  • Assist with engagement meetings and activities; prepare flyers; research topics.
  • Conduct internet research: perform special projects as assigned.


Qualifications


  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university, ideally working towards an associate's, bachelor's or master's degree in human resource management, Economics, Organizational Development, or related field.
  • Must be able to commit to a regular 10-15 hour per week schedule for a full semester.
  • Professional communication, attitude, and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills are required.
  • Must be flexible, logical and possess strong organizational skills. Must be able handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines as assigned. Must be attentive to detail.
  • An intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office 365) is required. Experience scheduling and organizing meetings using Teams, Zoom, and other virtual platforms is essential.
  • Must have experience conducting internet research.
  • Must be a team player who is professional, diplomatic, and tactful in all interactions with staff, management, applicants, etc.
  • The ability to exercise discretion in handling sensitive or confidential information is essential.
