Who we are looking for: ASCO is offering an exciting internship opportunity for law students interested in gaining experience in in-house legal work in a non-profit setting. As a Legal Intern, you will support ASCO's Legal team in conducting research, drafting documents, and assisting with various projects. This internship will provide valuable hands-on experience and exposure to the field of healthcare law. Internship activities include: Specific projects will be determined based on ASCO’s current needs and the intern's interests. We anticipate that the internship will involve one or two significant pieces of legal research and writing, on topics such as data privacy or artificial intelligence. On-the-ground assistance with current projects including though not necessarily limited to contract record management and contract review. Support special projects and initiatives, as requested, for the Center for Integrity and Law Required qualifications: Successfully completed one year of law school Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite Excellent analytical skills Excellent research skills; and experience working with Lexis or Westlaw Strong interpersonal and communication skills Professionalism Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with flexibility to adapt to changing needs Solid organizational and time management skills and impeccable attention to detail Excellent customer service skills and professionalism Willingness to enhance skills Duration: 10 weeks during the summer – June 10, 2024, to August 16, 2024. This internship is 37.5 hours per week. Compensation: This summer internship position is paid. Additionally, ASCO will provide parking or a metro subsidy to the successful candidate. Location: This internship is based in Alexandria, VA and will require working onsite. Candidates should reside in the D.C. metro area or be able to relocate at their own expense.
