* CURA Strategies is looking for an ambitious, self-starter to join our team as
an intern. Our paid interns are fully integrated members of our team and key
players in helping us do great work for our incredible clients.
* This isn’t a “get our coffee” internship—interns gain extensive hands-on
experience working on a variety of tasks across multiple accounts. The
following is a small sample of our client portfolio: The Polycystic Kidney
Disease Foundation, American College of Cardiology, CareDx and The Leapfrog
Group.
* This is a paid position of $17.00/hour. In limited cases, we have adjusted
for graduate students with more extensive experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Assist with traditional media relations activities, including building media
lists and crafting newsworthy pitches
* Assist with client social media efforts, including drafting content, creating
graphics, and monitoring for engagement opportunities
* Draft written content, such as newsletters, blog posts, press releases,
client presentations and measurement reports
* Provide support for various virtual or in-person client events
* Attend and capture action items from internal and client meetings/conference
calls
* Participate in new business brainstorms and research
* Other projects and duties as requested, directed or assigned
* Assist office manager with administration tasks
QUALIFICATIONS
* Has an appetite and drive to always do more
* Is thorough and detail-oriented, particularly with spelling and grammar
* Has excellent writing, analytical and oral skills
* Has a professional demeanor and is a team player
* Works well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, juggling multiple
projects at once while meeting deadlines
* Is extremely organized and able to manage time well
* Approaches projects with a can-do mindset, but will ask questions when
they’ve exhausted other options
* Has a working knowledge of social media strategy for business
* Is proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and
PowerPoint
* Bonus points if you have:
* Graphic design experience and working knowledge of the Adobe Suite (InDesign,
Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro)
* Video editing experience
* Government relations and public affairs experience
This position is open to recent grads, graduate students, and seniors studying
public relations, communications, marketing, journalism, or a related major with
an interest in health care communications. Prior communications and public
relations experience is preferred. Strong preference will be given to applicants
who can work onsite in our Crystal City office every day.
All applicants shall receive equal consideration without regard to race, color,
religion, gender, marital status, gender identity or expression, sexual
orientation, national origin, age, veteran status or disability. In a recent
blinded employee survey, 100% of employees strongly believe, “Everyone here [at
CURA Strategies] is treated fairly regardless of race, gender, age, ethnic
background, disability, sexual orientation, or other differences.”
