Job Description
The Washington Post is seeking a dynamic and self-motivated tax intern
interested in gaining practical experience as a tax department contributor.
The purchase of The Washington Post by Amazon founder, Jeff Bezos, has propelled
the company into the elite set of US digital publishers. Recently, The
Washington Post has surpassed 3 million digital subscribers and was just named
"Hottest in News" and "Hottest in Social Media" for digital publishers by
Adweek. Fast Company put The Washington Post at the top of the "World's Most
Innovative Companies" of 2015, 2017, and 2018 in Media. Along with the robust
investment and record-breaking growth in digital revenue, traffic, and
subscriptions comes the responsibility of accurately and timely complying with
increasing US and international reporting requirements. You will be part of a
team charged with this task, using modern tax compliance technology (OneSource),
research tools, and technical accounting and tax
knowledge combined with comprehensive judgment to identify and solve technical
tax and compliance issues.
Tax compliance is a deadline driven process. A strong candidate in this position
must be organized, possess a sense of urgency, and be able to communicate with
internal departments as well as external vendors to correctly prepare tax

return data is aggregated in Excel prior to migrating to the tax software.
The position's responsibilities will include utilizing Excel capabilities to
automate tax calculations, preparing Federal and state income tax returns using
OneSource tax software, and reviewing tax return drafts for
correctness. Responsibilities may also include ad hoc tax research and analysis
projects on various tax topics.
